About

About We’ve Seen Things IT

We’ve Seen Things IT provides independent Microsoft 365 review and practical configuration improvement for sole traders and small New Zealand businesses, typically up to 10 users.

The focus is structured visibility, proportionate uplift, and clear decision support for businesses that rely on Microsoft 365 but may not have dedicated IT oversight.

Background

I’m Blair Mahuika, a Christchurch-based systems engineer with experience supporting Microsoft environments ranging from small teams through to organisations with over 1,000 users.

Across internal IT and managed services roles, I’ve worked with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, server infrastructure, telephony, and network environments — supporting both operational stability and structured security improvement initiatives.

That experience has included environments where configuration maturity is managed deliberately, reviewed periodically, and aligned to a broader roadmap. It has also included smaller environments where Microsoft 365 is critical to the business, but configuration has never had a focused independent review.

Approach

The approach is practical and structured.

The goal is not to overstate risk, create unnecessary urgency, or introduce enterprise overhead where it does not belong. It is to establish a clear baseline, identify meaningful configuration gaps, and prioritise sensible improvements.

Many small businesses do not need more tooling. They need clearer visibility into how their Microsoft 365 environment is currently configured and which changes would provide the most value.

Current Relevance

I continue to work within complex Microsoft environments in my primary role, ensuring the advice provided remains aligned with current platform capabilities and recommended configuration practices.

This helps keep the assessment grounded in what is relevant now — not in outdated assumptions or static best-practice lists.
